Gamsole founder, Abiola Olaniran Passes on at 36

Abiola Olaniran, Nigerian software engineer who pioneered one of Africa’s mobile-gaming brands, Gamsole, passed away on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at the age of 36.

Family sources said he was buried the same day in a private ceremony.

Olaniran, who was recognized by Forbes Africa and The Future Awards, co-created Gidi Run and led Gamsole to 10M+ global downloads with more than 10,000 active players across 191 countries.

Aside from his successes as an entrepreneur, Olaniran was also a charitable inspiration to other young founders. He was angel investor that Techpoint, one of Africa’s premium Tech blogs, had, recalls Techpoint Africa founder, Adewale Yusuf.

Olaniran worked briefly at CCHuB as the chief technology officer. He spent his last days as mentor to younger entrepreneurs and supported young founders across Africa’s tech ecosystem.
