Rwanda is on the way to build a $2 Billion Silicon Valley

Despite the bloody genocide of 1994, Rwanda is today one of the most advanced African economies with an exceptional economic growth rate: 8% in 2019.

The project was named Kigali Innovation City (KIC). It is the result of a partnership public-private partnership (PPP) woven by the Rwandan government and Africa50. This last, for your information, is a platform specialized in investments in infrastructure. It was founded by the ADB (African Development Bank).

In total, this project ambitious required a $2 billion package. Thus.., Kigali will become the privileged home for companies technology companies, biotech companies, biotech companies, biotech companies, biotech companies, biotech companies global retail and real estate companies and universities.

50,000 jobs per year

Within this framework, US$400 million will be mobilized by Africa50 according to the AfDB. The platform will handle the real estate component of KIC. Several tasks will, therefore, be allocated to it, including the construction of the sales complexes in the retail ($315 million). It will also take care of the digital innovation cluster.

This large space will house the technology companies that will take up residence in KIC. It will also include residential facilities for future employees who will work in this vast ecosystem.
