According to Airbnb users: Morocco among the best experiences in Africa

Among the most reserved experiences this year, the discovery of Gnawa music with a Maalem (Master) in Essaouira.

Morocco is once again among the favorite destinations for Airbnb users. This time, it is the tourism experiences in the country that attract travelers, according to the Airbnb’s latest report published on 12 September on the margins of its first Africa Travel Summit held from 11 to 13 September in Cape Town, South Africa.

The online accommodation booking platform also offers the possibility of booking different experiences, a function that grew by 1100% in 2018. Among the most reserved experiences this year by the users of the site in Africa, we find in particular a walk in Marrakech by an approved tourist guide who proposes to discover the history of the ochre city and all the sights that it conceals according to the interests of each visitor.

Also in Marrakech, tourists have also booked several times a camel ride in the palm grove to watch the sunset while getting to know the Berber culture.

One of the most reserved experiences this year in Africa was also the discovery of Gnawa music with a maâlem in Essaouira. Travelers take a tour of the city before joining the maâlem in his house accompanied by a Gnawi dancer for a private concert. Throughout the show, the guide explains to tourists the tradition and history of Gnawas and Lila (musical and spiritual evenings).

Other experiences that travelers enjoyed in Africa included paddling with penguins, surfing lessons, African jewelry-making sessions in Cape Town, South Africa, and a visit to a coffee farm in Nairobi, Kenya.
